Working in Childcare

Are you thinking of a career in childcare or running your own childcare setting? There are a number of opportunities available to you. For more information contact the Pembrokeshire Family Information Service (FIS) or telephone: 01437 770014 who can point you in the right direction and advise you of what provision already exists in the area.

The  Pembrokeshire Family Information Service offers a range of free support services for childcare providers in Pembrokeshire, including:

  • Advertise your childcare service to parents for free
  • Assisting in setting up new childcare provision (e.g. childminding, nursery, after school club)
  • Childcare business support and start-up grants
  • Training opportunities, funding and courses for childcare workers.

A team of Development Workers are also there to help new childcare providers get their business off to a sound start. In addition, they are offering ongoing support, help and advice to existing providers, assist groups to develop their provision, offer support to promote good practices and help with any CSSIW issues. Contact the FIS or 01437 770014 for further details

The demand for staff in childcare has increased in recent years, and is set to increase further as a result of Welsh Assembly Government policies to provide more childcare and education places for young children.
