Art - Drawing & painting

To develop the potential which everyone has to draw well from observation. To teach methods of drawing which are useful for oil painting and others which relate to water colour painting. To learn oil, acrylic, gouache and water colour techniques and make finished paintings in these media.

Lets get printing workshop

Introductory one day workshop into printmaking. Come & explore the various techniques including block printing, lino-printing & mono-printing. Try your hand at creating your own designs through mark making & have fun! Beginners welcome but open to more advanced to share creative inspiration! 10-4pm Bring your own lunch. Max 10.

Microsoft Office skills

Suitable for those who have limited computer skills or have completed an introductory IT course. On this course you can learn how to use word processing software, create and use spreadsheets, use a database, create a slide show or create posters and newsletters in Desktop Publishing. You will be using the Microsoft Office 2016 suite of programs including Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint and Publisher. You will gain an accreditation for this course and it is very suitable if you are thinking of getting a job or want to refresh your IT skills before returning to work.

Photography - Basic digital photography

Ideal for people who have bought a digital camera and would like to learn the basics. This beginners course teaches the many basic technical aspects of digital photography, including camera modes, focal length, composition rules, white balance and finding your way around the menus. The course will then cover uploading your images to the computer. There are no formal entry requirements for this course. You must have access to a digital camera for the course.

Photography - Developing further skills

Ideal for people who have completed the ‘Photography - A focus on beginners’ course or for people who are already familiar with the basic elements of photography, lighting, composition and camera menus. This course is the next step in developing further photographic skills. The course focusses on taking better pictures and learning more about composition. Learners must have their own digital camera and compatible memory cards.

Pilates

Pilates improves posture, tones the body and improves flexibility. This is a gentle form of exercise working on the central core of the body.

Pilates - Stretch and flex

Would you like to feel more flexible? Would you like to improve posture, balance and co-ordination and improve strength in your back and abdominal muscles? 'Stretch & Flex' is a gentle low-impact Pilates-based class for all age-groups using focussed breathing techniques to support the exercises; this brings the added benefit of increased lung capacity, increased body-awareness and lowering of stress levels.

Play with mono-printing

This art course is a great introduction to printing using the mono-printing method. It’s creative & fun using simple techniques. No drawing skills required. Suitable for beginners and intermediate learners.

Safeguarding - Children and Young People Level 2

This qualification is suitable for learners working, or wishing to work, with children and young people. This includes those in voluntary or unpaid positions. The course includes how to safeguard and protect children, young people and practitioners in the workplace, and know how to respond to evidence or concerns that a child or young persons has been abused.
