SACRE

Forward from Pembrokeshire SACRVE

To all Pembrokeshire schools,

As the Standing Advisory Council for Religion, Values and Ethics (SACRVE), we wish you the very best in your endeavours to provide Pembrokeshire children and young people with the very best curriculum we can offer them. We look forward to hearing how you use this Pembrokeshire Agreed Syllabus for RVE to develop rich learning experiences and grow all learners as ethical, informed citizens.

This Agreed Syllabus is the result of a collaborative effort, with contributions from many partners; we intend for it to evolve as schools engage further with this enthralling and enlightening aspect of the Curriculum for Wales. We invite all schools to engage with us, sharing successes and challenges, through both formal evaluations and informal channels. Also, your views should inform our plans, such as the potential to develop a Youth SACRVE. Details of our work and contact details will be found on Pembrokeshire County Council website from September 2022, where we would also like to celebrate examples of RVE shared by schools and clusters.

We are reviewing the constitution of SACRVE in the Autumn and hope to welcome an even wider group of members, particularly from schools, to ensure we successfully fulfil our role. Whilst we have high expectations of all schools in developing transformational RVE throughout their curriculum, we are committed to providing the support and encouragement to help schools achieve this.

We look forward to seeing how RVE inspires the curiosity, criticality, objectivity and empathy of all learners to discover and embrace the possibilities afforded by living in Pembrokeshire, Wales and the world.
