Summer Reading Challenge 2018

Join the ‘Mischief Makers’ at your local library this summer!

If you’re on the lookout for fun, free activities for your children to do over the summer holidays – then why not take part in the 2018 Summer Reading Challenge?

Every year, thousands of families all over the country take part in the challenge – the UK’s biggest reading event for children in libraries.

“The aim is to encourage children between the ages of four and eleven to read six books from their local library during the summer holidays, with lots of fun and rewards along the way,” said Library Development Officer Laura Evans.

“What’s great about the Summer Reading Challenge is that you can choose any library book you like to count towards your rewards.”

Children can sign up for free to take part in the challenge at any library in the county, and a range of free storytime and activity sessions will take place at several libraries in Pembrokeshire.

The theme of this year’s Reading Challenge is Mischief Makers, inspired by the much-loved children's title Beano, which celebrates its 80th anniversary.

Children will explore a map of Beanotown to find a hidden treasure chest full of pranks and become ultimate Mischief Makers!

Places are limited, so booking in advance is essential. To book, please contact the library after 10am on the morning of the session on 01437 776454.

Courses through the medium of Welsh. In order to make it viable for us to us to run courses we need a minimum number of people to take part. Our aim is to provide courses bilingually wherever possible. When you enquire about taking part in a course we will ask you if you would prefer to take part exclusively in Welsh. We will provide courses exclusively in Welsh when numbers reach the minimum level.
