Review of education provision at Ysgol y Preseli and its cluster schools

This document represents the starting point of a review of education provision at Ysgol y Preseli and its cluster schools.  It provides some background information on the schools in question.

Some of the issues which require consideration are included in this document but there may be others. This is your chance to tell us what you think.

Until September 2018, Ysgol y Preseli was the only Welsh medium secondary school in Pembrokeshire; consequently it attracted pupils not only from its designated catchment area, but also from many other areas beyond.

This review will consider Ysgol y Preseli specifically, and its main, current feeder schools, i.e. Ysgol Llandudoch; Ysgol Hafan y Môr, Tenby; Ysgol Cilgerran; Narberth CP School; Ysgol Eglwyswrw; Ysgol y Frenni, Crymych; Ysgol Clydau, Tegryn; Ysgol Bro Ingli, Newport; Ysgol Maenclochog; Ysgol Llanychllwydog, Gwaun Valley; Ysgol Brynconin, Llandissilio; Ysgol Casmael

Narberth CP School sits within the Tenby Cluster of Schools, but it would be expected that pupils attending its Welsh Stream would transfer to Welsh medium secondary provision in Pembrokeshire

Ysgol Bro Ingli, Ysgol Llanychllwydog and Ysgol Casmael sit within the Fishguard Cluster of schools and pupils would normally be expected to transfer to Ysgol Bro Gwaun. However, parents often choose to send their children to Ysgol y Preseli.

Ysgol Bro Gwaun is not included as part of this review.

With the exception of Narberth CP School, all schools listed above are designated as Welsh medium. Narberth CP School is a Dual Stream school. Ysgol y Preseli is designated as a Bilingual School.
