Day Opportunities provided by Pembrokeshire County Council
Day opportunities help and enable people to meet friends and take part in activities such as sport and leisure, IT & digital, cooking and baking, art & craft, sensory and reminiscing to maintain, learn and explore new skills, hobbies and interests.
They help people connect with their community and use local services such as leisure centres, libraries and local facilities and public transport. We also have our own buildings that have space, equipment and specialist resources across the county.
Pembrokeshire has a wide range of social enterprises which can provide day opportunities for people who want to stay active and engage in their community.
These services can be accessed following an assessment of need. Providers of these services attend the Day Opportunities Forum, which can provide details of opportunities in your area.
Day Opportunities - Supported Employment business (Norman Industries) - provides opportunities to maintain woodworking or painting skills.
Norman Industries can be accessed following an assessment of need but also welcomes volunteers without assessed needs who want a hands-on experience and are willing to support young disabled people as they learn.

Activities available
Activities at day services could be community-based, such as going to a leisure centre or could be provided through groups with a specific aim, for example luncheon clubs to provide social contact, or groups set up to support individuals who have dementia.
The activities offered to you are targeted to achieve your personal objectives, for example, help with learning how to travel on public transport confidently and safely. Some services may be provided in buildings that are set up for people who need support with their personal care and need access to facilities that keep them safe.
Other day services will support you to access activities in the community or in outreach groups. The day service staff will monitor and review your progress against your objectives to make sure activities continue to meet your needs.
