Basic life support and defibrillator (AED) use

The most common cause for a cardiac arrest is a ‘heart attack’. If a heart attack (or other cause) results in a cardiac arrest then early defibrillation through a controlled electric shock is vital to maintain ‘the Chain of Survival’. This course has been designed to provide learners with the skills needed to administer safe, prompt and effective basic life support and use an AED (Automated External Defibrillator) safely in emergency situations. A Level 2 Award in Basic Life Support and Safe Use of an Automated External Defibrillator qualification is available.
