Restrictions Business Fund Non Domestic Rate Linked Grants – March 2021

The Welsh Government introduced the Restrictions Business Fund to support businesses (principally in the hospitality, tourism, leisure and non-essential retail sectors) with cash flow support and to help them survive the economic consequences of restrictions put in place to control the spread of Covid-19 which were extended by the First Minister in his announcement on 12th March 2021.  This grant is payable in addition to the previous Restrictions grants.

Payment for this grant is being made automatically, however, if you have not received a payment by 22nd March 2021 you will need to apply using this form.

If you did not apply for the grant introduced in December and you wish to apply for one of the new grants, you will need to complete this form.

Restrictions Business Fund Non Domestic Rate Grant

Grant A:

A £4,000 cash grant payment for hospitality, tourism, leisure and related supply chain businesses including some retail businesses with Small Business Rate Relief (SBRR) qualifying hereditaments with a rateable value of £12,000 or less.

Grant B:

A £5,000 cash grant payment for hospitality, tourism, leisure and related supply chain businesses including some retail businesses occupying hereditaments with a rateable value between £12,001 and £500,000.

 

Notes Relevant to Both Grants

Businesses needing to apply will need to be liable as the ratepayer for Non Domestic Rates and in occupation of the qualifying hereditament on 1st March 2021.

Tourism, leisure, retail and supply chain businesses with a greater than 40% reduction in turnover will need to complete a short registration form, whether they experienced a 40% reduction in turnover for January and February 2021 as compared to January and February 2020 (or a comparable two month period if the business was not yet trading in Jan/Feb 2020)

 

Self-catering Businesses

In relation to self-catering accommodation you will only qualify if ALL the following criteria are met:

  • The self-catering accommodation can produce two years of trading accounts directly preceding the current financial year of the business
  • The self-catering accommodation must actually have been let for a period of 140 days or more in the financial year 2019-20
  • The self-catering accommodation business must be the primary source of income for the owner (i.e. it must be more than any other income the owner has).
