Inclusion / SEN Service

This service is responsible for the promotion of inclusion in mainstream schools whenever appropriate for the individual needs and development of the child. When a special school or other specialist provision is right for a child then that setting should be closely linked to the mainstream school.

The service will:

• Provide targeted resources and support which will be made available as early and as flexibly as possible.
• Collaborate with other agencies to take appropriate and positive steps to promote the inclusion of children and young people within mainstream schools.
• Respond to the needs and views of children and young people, their parents and carers, and work closely with them.
• Liaise with other authorities on a regional basis to ensure that there are appropriate arrangements to meet low incidence needs

The service is managed by Graham Longster, Head of School Improvement and Inclusion. The service includes professional advice and support to schools and children from the following sections:
