School meals are provided by Pembrokeshire County Council's Catering Division. All menus meet the National Assembly for Wales Nutritional Guidelines and provide over a third of the body's daily nutritional and energy requirements, which assist pupils in maintaining alertness in class. Pupils also derive social benefits from eating and relaxing with friends.
The service works with suppliers to ensure that all ingredients meet the highest standard, with no
harmful additives. Menu cycles change twice a year and are displayed in schools . All special dietary
requirements, e.g. vegetarian, diabetic, milk or nut intolerance can be catered for upon written request
from parents/guardians.
A two course primary meal currently costs £1.80 (subject to change). Payment may be made to school termly,
fortnightly or weekly, in advance, by either cheque (made payable to "Pembrokeshire County
Council") or by cash.

Secondary schools provide a Cash Cafeteria Service, which includes healthy options.
A "cashless catering" service is currently being piloted in one Pembrokeshire Secondary
School. It is very important that pupils taking part in this scheme take great care of their personal meal
card (known as the Zone Card) as no credit will be given for lost cards and pupils will not be able to
claim a meal without their card. There will be a charge for a replacement card.
Free meals are provided for primary and secondary pupils who satisfy the eligibility criteria.
