Pembrokeshire Fostering

Pembrokeshire Fostering wish to recruit Foster Carers who are caring, resilient, committed, responsive and motivated, with a spare bedroom.

There are many children in Pembrokeshire who need nurturing, loving and supportive environments. They may not be able to live at home for various reasons and may have suffered from neglect or abuse.

Foster caring is a demanding role requiring a high level of patience, tolerance, and energy. There is a careful matching process to ensure that the Foster Family and the child have the best outcome.

Pembrokeshire Fostering are especially interested in recruiting long/short term placements for teenagers and short breaks for children with disabilities. There are also opportunities under the Supported Lodgings Scheme to offer placements to young people, 16 to 21, who are leaving Local Authority Care.

A willingness to understand and learn about the circumstances and issues affecting a young person is important. As a Pembrokeshire Foster Carer you will receive excellent training opportunities in order to increase your knowledge and skills. These include- Health and Safety, Child Protection, Safer Caring, First aid and Food hygiene. Further training is available.

Social Workers support the Foster Carers through the assessment and after approval.  You will be required to work with a variety of professionals and follow guidelines and procedures.

Anyone above the age of 21 can apply to foster.

Even though there is an extensive assessment which is carried out, which includes medical, police and reference checks, if successful you will be rewarded with a full and exciting role that can help support the children of Pembrokeshire.
