Group Repair Scheme

Group Repair Scheme

The purpose of the group repair scheme is to improve the exterior of a group of properties. A group repair scheme takes place within defined renewal areas, such as Haverfordwest and Milford Haven, and forms part of Pembrokeshire County Council’s strategy for improving housing within the county.

Who is eligible for assistance?

A person is eligible to participate in a group repair scheme if at the date of the approval of the scheme they have an owner interest in the property.

What are the conditions of the scheme?

  • The person must occupy the property for a further period of 5 years, which begins on the date on which Pembrokeshire County Council certifies the eligible works to have been completed
  • The property consists of any letting rooms or flats then these should be let within 12 months of Pembrokeshire County Council certifying the eligible works have been complete
  • If a person disposes of their property within the 5-year condition period, they will be required to repay Pembrokeshire County Council the amount of any assistance provided within the terms of the group repair scheme.

What works are eligible?

The group repair scheme includes work to the exterior fabric of a property. Under the scheme ‘exterior’ means any part exposed to the elements of wind and rain or otherwise facing into the open air. These elements include the following:

  • Roof covering
  • Chimney stack
  • Rainwater gutter and down pipes
  • Wall
  • Doors and windows

Other work may comprise the curtilage of the property. This includes walls to the principle elevations within the curtilage that is retaining or otherwise protecting the building structure, such as boundary walls.
