Public protection services include Food Safety And Standards, Communicable Disease Control, Health And Safety, Licensing, Commercial Pollution Control, Environmental Monitoring, Trading Standards, Animal Health And Welfare, Port Health, Dog Control, Pest Control And Public Health.
The aims of the Public Protection division are:
To provide a quality and customer focused regulatory, monitoring and advisory service for businesses and consumers with the objective of ensuring public protection and animal health and welfare, In addition to enforcement in accordance with a published enforcement policy, preventative support will be provided to businesses to comply with requirements, and advice on best practice.
To work with other providers where possible, to deliver an integrated approach to service delivery.
In attempting to achieve these aims, our approach will comply with the cabinet office guide on performance management in environmental health and trading standards by applying the enforcement mix - education, intelligence gathering , routine inspections and responding to customer demands.
