Haverfordwest Information Service

Haverfordwest gained its name through a combination of being the first place on the river that allowed a safe opportunity to ford the Western Cleddau, and from the old English word haefer, meaning buck or he-goat. Together, Haefer-ford-west was formed meaning the place where goats crossed the river

This market town is full of history, tales and landmarks which illustrate its varied past.

The Haverfordwest Information Service providing visitors with a wealth of information and detailed local knowledge has moved from its old location to Haverfordwest Library.
