Making decisions

People with a learning disability are among those offered protection by the Mental Capacity Act.

The Act puts individuals at the centre of any decisions made regarding their care, giving them support and advice where they need to make decisions for themselves, where possible.

Person Centre Planning

Person centred planning is based on listening and learning about what you want from your life.   Person centred plans can help you tell people about choices you make and the dreams you have.  Family, friends, professionals and other groups work together with you to help make the person centred plans happen.  You can ask for help to make a person centred plan.

Advocacy supports people who feel that they can't express their views or feel that they are not being listened to.  If you would like to find out more information please contact
