Road Safety Unit
The Road Safety Unit and partners will be implementing the road safety programmes, initiatives,
campaigns and guidelines issued in the Pembrokeshire Partnership Road Safety Strategy 2006/2010.
Pembrokeshire Road Safety Unit partners listed in the Strategy are:
- Dyfed Powys Police
- Mid & West Wales Fire Service
- Pembrokeshire and Derwent Health Trust
- South West Wales Trunk Road Agency
- Chevron Texaco
The Strategy partners are committed to achieving national collision reduction targets by 2010. The
targets are:
- 40% reduction in the total number of killed or seriously injured (KSi) casualties.
- 50% reduction in the total number of child killed or seriously injured casualties (Ksi)
casualties.
- 10% reduction in the rate of slight casualties per 100,000,000 vehicles kilometres traveled.
These reductions will be achieved through partnership policies and in partnership with other groups and
individuals and reflect partner agencies vision/aims.
Partnership Vision
The partnership vision is to improve levels of road safety and reduce the number of collisions and
casualties on the county's road network. A planned co-ordinated approach with the partners will look at
Educating, Training, Publicity and road collision analysis. This approach will consider accident data and
develop planned measures and programmes to reduce collisions and casualties.
