If you are:
You may be eligible to receive money through the Direct Payment Scheme from the Social Care & Housing Directorate of the Local Authority.
The Direct Payments Scheme is designed to give you more independence and choice, in order to help you manage your own life in your own home.
You are in control and can arrange who supports you, how they do it and when. With Direct Payments you can pay an agency to provide the support you want, or employ your own staff.
You do not need to have Direct Payments for all of your support; you can have part of your support provided directly by Social Care and Housing and part by Direct Payments.
You may also be able to use Direct Payments for periods of respite, if agreed by the Social Care and Housing Directorate.
Direct Payments is not a benefit and does not affect your benefits.
So direct payments means that you have more choice! Ask your Care Co-ordinator how to get Direct Payments.
