Gypsy Traveller Accommodation Assessment - an update from the Council
As part of its duties set out in the Housing (Wales) Act 2014, Pembrokeshire County Council (PCC) has now undertaken a Gypsy Traveller Accommodation Assessment for the period 2015-2020. The Council submitted a report containing the assessment's findings to the Welsh Government in February 2016.
The assessment was guided throughout by a steering group which included representatives from Gypsy Traveller communities. PCC would like to thank these community members, as well as all those who took part in the survey, for enabling the Council to produce a robust assessment.
If the Welsh Government agrees with PCC's findings, the report will shape the development of new Gypsy and Traveller sites until 2020. Once the report has the approval of the Welsh Government the Council will make the report public. We will try to let members of the Gypsy and Traveller communities know when this happens.
The community has asked to be kept up to date with how the provision of new pitches is coming along. The Council has therefore decided to continue meeting with the steering group and use our meetings as an opportunity to feed information across to the community. The community members who sit on the steering group can be contacted through the Unity Project.
