Computer Programming - An Introduction

The aim of the course is to introduce 'Scratch' and to teach the fundamentals of programming through good programming practices. The ability to code computer programs is an important part of literacy in today's society. 'Scratch' is a programming language which has been designed with learning and education in mind. Originally designed for pupils from ages 8 - 16, people of all ages are using 'Scratch' to program interactive stories, games and animations.

This course explores new features and apps, including Family Sharing, Health, enhanced notifications, Time-lapse photo mode, group messages with voice and video, QuickType, and more. The course covers protecting your privacy and troubleshooting your iPad when you encounter a problem.

Microsoft Office skills - Intro

Suitable for those who have limited computer skills or have completed an introductory IT course. On this course you can learn how to use word processing software, create and use spreadsheets, use a database, create a slide show or create posters and newsletters in Desktop Publishing. You will be using the Microsoft Office 2013 suite of programs including Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint and Publisher. You will gain an accreditation for this course and it is very suitable if you are thinking of getting a job or want to refresh your IT skills before returning to work.

Organising your photos

Transferring photos from your camera to your computer. Creating folders to organise your photos and learn how to resize and view your photos in different ways.

Patchwork quilt in a day

A basic introduction to patchwork and quilting for beginners. You could make a simple lap quilt or a baby quilt. No previous experience is necessary. You will need to provide fabric and a basic sewing kit. Please bring your sewing machine if you have one.

Text Processing skills

Level 1 is ideal for those who are new to the skills and knowledge required to produce documents either in the home or workplace. Level 2 - intermediate skills covering secretarial tasks. Level 3 - advanced skills for those who have already achieved Level 2 or equivalent. This course includes optional units covering audio, medical and legal work, mail merge and presentations. On successful completion of units you will receive a Learning Pembrokeshire certificate of competence.
