The Pembroke Dock-based heritage group, the Sunderland Trust, has received a £5,000 donation from the owners of Pembroke Power Station.

Senior managers from RWE npower were so impressed with the project during a recent visit that the company agreed to give financial support to the work being undertaken by the Trust.

Andy Smith, project development manager at Pembroke Power Station, who toured the recently opened Flying Boat Centre in the Dockyard as well as the refurbished Garrison Theatre nearby, said he was very impressed by what he saw.

"The Sunderland Trust clearly has a lot of ambition in terms of what it wants to achieve at the Dockyard and RWE npower is delighted to be able to support this,'' he said.

John Evans, project manager for the Trust, explained the plans to recover a sunken Sunderland aircraft from the Milford Haven waterway while local County Councillor, Brian Hall - who also arranged the visit - discussed the possibility of the theatre becoming a military heritage centre.
