About Us

Haverfordwest is a medieval town that grew within the shadow of its Norman Castle and this year celebrates its 900^th anniversary with many special events being held throughout 2010. It is a town steeped in history and tradition whilst at the same time is a modern vibrant community that has kept pace with the demands of previous centuries. The Haverfordwest of today has the feel of a bustling market town with a character that has developed over several hundred years of brisk trade as Pembrokeshire's principal trading centre and no visit to the county would be complete without a visit - for its shops - from supermarkets to our very own special local shops - its rich historical tapestry - its churches and chapels - its sporting facilities and much more.

The Riverside Market, overlooking the river Cleddau, is open six days and across an attractive wooden footbridge is the Riverside Quay Development, a pedestrianised tree-lined boulevard offering all the latest high street shops.

Haverfordwest has also developed as the administrative centre of the county and is now developing into a fine tourist centre. Situated in virtually the centre of Pembrokeshire it is an ideal place for the visitor to stay and explore the many charming villages and beautiful, safe bathing beaches. In fact, Haverfordwest is said to be the gateway to the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park.
